Polished Heavy Cockle Clam Sea Shell

The polished heavy cockle clam seashell is a thick, durable, heavy clam.  These heavy cockle clams are purple.  Cockle clam seashells can be found from southern California to the Bering Sea.  The age of a cockle clam is determined by counting winter growth checks on the shell. Cockles average three to four years of age and are usually are not more than seven years old. Age of maturity is two years.
