Bear Paw Clam
Hippopus hippopus 4" - 4 ½"
If you're a shell lover or collector with a soft spot for tropical treasures, meet the Bear Paw Seashell, also known as the Horse's Hoof or Strawberry Clam. This charming member of the giant clam family (Tridacnidae) brings a touch of reef magic to your collection, even though it's on the smaller side compared to its massive cousins like the true giant clam.
These seashells are sturdy, heart-shaped shells. They're white/off white with faint maroon stripes that hint at strawberry veins. Not every one is as boldly patterned as the photos. Nature keeps it real with subtle, one-of-a-kind designs that make each piece special and full of character.
These beauties hail from the sunny, shallow coral reefs of the Southwest Pacific, from Australia's Great Barrier Reef to the island paradises of Fiji and Vanuatu. In the wild, they live just 3–30 feet underwater.
Sustainably collected and kept whole, they're perfect for displaying on a shelf, adding to a marine-themed exhibit or even as a romantic hideaway—tuck a ring inside for a unique, ocean-inspired wedding proposal that'll make waves.
Quick note: Thanks to wildlife protection rules (CITES), we can't ship these outside the U.S., so they're staying stateside to keep the reefs thriving!
